We’re with you. Your young child’s brain should get on with one of the things it does best at this age – acquire languages!

To help you out, we compiled this listing of center based daycares (D) and home and family daycares (HD) with immersion or bilingual programs. Playgroups, cooperatives and anything less than five days a week with a bilingual component we plan to list in a separate listing. If you are in a rush to get your hands on that listing, or would like a listing that extends beyond DC, please consider supporting our work by becoming a supporting member.

Unfortunately, most of these bilingual daycares already have long waitlists, and only two of them are outside of NW. So, if you know of anyone who is looking to start a bilingual daycare or to integrate more languages into an existing daycare program anywhere in the District, please encourage them to do so! We’d be happy to assist them.

Please let us know of any great program we might have missed, especially hyperlocal home and family daycares with little web presence!

Please note: we listed daycares based on what stated on their websites/public listings. We do not endorse or make representations about these daycares or their bilingual programs.

Dear Families, educators, and partners,

In 2020 we announced that the DC Language Immersion Project would close its doors due to lack of resources. However, before completely dissolving the organization, we recently asked a group of local and national educators if they - individually or collectively - would be interested in continuing the work of advocating for multilingual education in the District of Columbia. We are pleased to announce that a few individuals responded yes and volunteered to forge a plan to continue this vital work.

So, we are not closing our doors but we are entering a six-to-twelve-month period of dormancy as we determine the best path forward for the DC Immersion Project.  Thank you for your continued support and please stay tuned for updates.
